This XPS Tile Backer Board features an extruded polystyrene (XPS) core sandwiched between layers of fiberglass mesh and a cement-based coating. It combines waterproofing, thermal insulation, and load-bearing capabilities to provide a stable substrate for tiling, making it perfectly suited for a wide range of dry and wet renovation scenarios.

The board utilizes an XPS (extruded polystyrene) core characterized by a dense, closed-cell structure and extremely low water absorption, inherently providing excellent water resistance. The outer layers consist of alkali-resistant fiberglass mesh covered with a cement-based mortar finish; this rough, porous surface ensures strong adhesion for tile adhesives, guaranteeing a secure bond and eliminating concerns about future delamination or tile detachment. Significantly lighter than cement backer boards, the material is easy for workers to cut and shape on-site using standard tools, thereby boosting construction efficiency-a tangible advantage for job sites. Furthermore, the board offers excellent dimensional stability, resisting expansion and contraction caused by temperature and humidity fluctuations, which reduces the risk of wall cracking.

In terms of performance, the board integrates both waterproofing and thermal insulation properties. The closed-cell XPS core has low thermal conductivity, helping to minimize condensation on the wall surface after installation; this protects the wall structure while enhancing indoor thermal insulation; The material is non-absorbent and resistant to mold growth, ensuring it does not soften or rot easily, even in continuously damp environments like showers. These boards can be applied directly to walls and floors or used to construct shower bases and recessed niches, offering excellent versatility in shaping. Seams are sealed using specialized waterproof tape and coatings, creating a continuous waterproofing system that effectively eliminates the risk of water leakage.
